Dart frogs are amazing jewels of the rainforest. These frogs are a particularly interesting species because they imitate the coloration of a more toxic frog. This particular group of frogs, the imitators feed infertile eggs to their young and mate for life with their partner. Males transport tadpoles on their backs bringing them to pools of water often in plants, the tadpoles live in the plants until they morph out into froglets and hop off ready to fend for themselves. They look like tiny versions of the adults with the same bright colors, hopefully deterring any predators.

the orange on this one is hand painted with shimmery gouache. I’m not charging any extra for the first 6 that sell, but may charge a little more after those 6 because I tell ya, it’s taking forever to paint each little froggie head.
