Birds are such fascinating creatures. Have you ever looked into the sky and wondered what a bird is thinking of us? This piece shows some ways that we have thought of birds and mimicked them including hot air balloons, helium balloons, boomerangs, whirligigs, origami, and kites.
"There are 3 types of biomimicry - one is copying shape and form, another is copying a process like photosynthesis in a leaf, and the third is mimicking at an ecosystem's level, like building a nature-inspired city," ~Ms. Benyus article from BBC
I get asked all the time how long it takes to make my woodcuts. I was working on this piece for 5 months. I also finished a smaller woodcut and two kiln loads of clay, but, I thought about each layer, each carved bit, each color regularly for that 5 month period.
