Zebras with extinct megafauna of Africa woven into their stripes including a quagga, bluebok, an extinct antelope, cheetah, megalotragus (a bovine with huge horns) and a western black rhino. This piece is bold and graphic.
The birds are oxpeckers, they have a symbiotic relationship with large African mammals, eating parasites and calling out when there is danger.
I read an interesting theory about why zebras have stripes…It may make it harder for flies to bite them because the insects get confused. I wonder what zebras stripes look like to a flies faceted eye.
