Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The earth laughs in flowers" but I also think the earth laughs in birds. In his poem "Hamatreya" he speaks about the silliness of "owning" a part of the earth. The planet has a sense of humor to bloom in a stunning diversity ordinary and strange flowers, as well as birds. I mean, who came up with a pelican? Does anything else in the animal world have such a large stretchy pouch? That thing can hold 3 gallons of water (with fish and whatever else they picked up along the way)!
Now wonder laughing gulls think they may have a chance at grabbing a pelicans catch. How would a pelican keep track of all the fish in it's mullet gullet?
