Orange Roughy were a fish that ended up on my family's dinner table as a child. I remember thinking about the word "roughy" and wondering what it meant, but never asking. Turns out these fish use to be called "Slimeheads" until somebody had the brilliant idea to turn them into a product that could be marketed to the american people. These fish though are now struggling. They live a very long time and spawn in great concentrated spots in the ocean, making them an easy target. Over the past 30 years there is only 10-30% left of their original population and now they are ended up on sea food watch lists. And roughy is just a term describing a fishes body type.
This Orange Roughy piece is framed in a beautifully framed solid wood curly maple frame. I love it in orange! Do you? I also have a black frame or red frame available.
