Corn is used for food and not just corn on the cob (some common ingredients that are derived from corn are maltodextrin, dextrose, mono- and di-glycerides, sorbitol, MSG, xanthan gum, and of course the lovely corn syrup, and high fructose corn syrup) and now biofuels. There is much debate about biofuels and if they are sustainable. This image portrays a scene where trucks have to transport their own corn for fuel to get around. I highly recommend Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma" if you are interested in corn production, processed foods, and ecologically minded farmers.
