Back to Invasive animal woodcuts Go Back to Invasives

Even though zebra mussels are annoying for feet and sewer pipes, an innovative group called the Nerites Corp. in Madison, Wisconsin are trying to use zebra mussel “technology” for human benefit. Nerites’ goal is to create stitches made from chemicals similar to those in the mussels. if they are successful, doctors will find it easier to suture up a patient after open heart surgery, or after an accident with a saw.

This piece is a companion to Great Lakes Powder Room featuring a sunken bathtub and invasive animals in the Great Lakes.
